Increment labs kickstarter is live

The LMW-V1 is looking very promising

I wrote about this a little while back and have been enjoying seeing the progress on their instagram but thought it was time to do a little update as the kickstarter is now live. I’m obviously not the only one who wants to make this product a reality as, just a few hours in, Increment Labs is well on its way to hitting the target.

If you didn’t see my last post about it, the LMW-V1 is a lightmeter/watchg combo, with a few features that stand out. Firstly, having a light meter, which is separate from your camera is a good thing, as it allows you to stay consistent across multiple bodies, especially useful if you are a film photographer using gear that doesn’t have a meter built in, or if it’s of a vintage where you can’t rely on it’s measurements, due to failing and aging parts.

Second, it’s nice to be able to get an exposure set up before you lift the camera to your eye. For street photography this can be useful for capturing candid moments without drawing attention.

I’m also a fan of thoughtful features, like the darkroom safe, red backlight. You will likely never take a reading in the darkroom but if you get into the habit of wearing the LMW-V1 on a daily basis, not having to remove it in the darkroom is a nice touch.

If you are quick you can get a massive discount on the kickstarter page, even bigger if you join the VIP membership over at the Increment Labs site, although that may be time limited. I’ve signed up and pledged on kickstarter, so will do a proper review when I have one on my wrist.

Price and availability

The best price you can get right now is £109 as a VIP but only during the next 48 hours. After that prices start at £119 for the early bird and increase from there. There are currently 29 days to go, so head over to learn more and place your pledge.
